Get to Know Elizabeth DeRazzo!
You probably know Elizabeth from her role as Maria on the HBO comedy but what you may not realize is that Elizabeth also spends a great amount of time pursuing philanthropic efforts through IBG. For one afternoon on Sunday, June 24th, Elizabeth is thrilled to be able to combine these two passions, acting and philanthrophy, for a great cause!
Elizabeth is a a native of Laredo, Texas and knew from a young age that she was destined for Hollywood. As a teenager, she hopped on a bus to be an extra on The X-Files unbeknownst to her mother. After spending the day on set watching the magic happen, she knew she’d found her calling. In addition to Eastbound, Elizabeth’s television credits include ER, Cold Case, Six Feet Under, The United States of Tara, and Southland. On stage, she has also played the role of Estella in the musical version of Real Women Have Curves. She is so excited to bring her acting chops to live theater once again!
Elizabeth has chosen to perform the pieces “Shorthand” and “Too Much Information” from My Letter to Fear. In Elizabeth’s own words, “Shorthand” “is the language that women use with each other, particularly when they’re speaking about a traumatic event. “Too Much Information” is “based on ladies and gentleman using your camera phones and sending out your naked bits into the world. Stop that!” Elizabeth hopes the reading of My Letter to Fear as whole “has a strong impact. And that it causes a conversation with people. Especially when it has to do with the eye opening accounts within the pieces. These pieces really range from heart warming stories to the unfortunate realities that life can throw your way. There’s stories about love, about struggle, about need, about want, they’re stories about life.”
