November 2011 – Featured Cause
The featured cause IBG has chosen to highlight for November is the beneficiary cause from our upcoming Conversation Series event. The event will take place in LA this coming weekend, featuring former Smallville co-star and all-around talented actress, director, and producer, Allison Mack. Allison works closely with Artists Striving to End Poverty (ASTEP), an organization that “builds a child’s capacity for self-expression through art programs which inspire youth to develop the skills they need inside and outside the classroom.” By connecting established and emerging artists with underserved youth, ASTEP uses the arts as a tool to foster creativity, teach life skills, and awaken young people’s imaginations.
Since 2003, ASTEP has partnered with community organizations and schools to deliver after-school, weekend, and summer arts education and empowerment programs. ASTEP currently serves three communities—New York, New York; Homestead, Florida; and Bangalore, India.
